d'Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz Review

d’Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz 2019 Review

The Dead Arm is d’Arenberg’s top shiraz from McLaren Vale in South Australia.  The 2019 vintage is deeply coloured in the glass and opens to unquestionably rich aromas of chocolate and dark plums. The palate is full bodied, with notes of prunes and raisins and saturated dark fruit characters.  Some bitter plums add complexity to its long finish.  This is an intense and high quality expression of McLaren shiraz. The wine can be approached now and over the next decade.  The alcohol is 15%. Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 91 points). Website: d’Arenberg. Source: Sample. Tasted: September 2024.
