This is a textural pinot gris from Domaine Paul Kubler in Alsace in France and the 2021 vintage. The Alsatian style of pinot gris differs considerably from the more commonly found Italian pinot grigio being, generally, the more serious of the two styles. This wine has mostly neutral aromas of pears and citrus fruits. The palate is between medium and full bodied, and has a biscuit texture from time on lees. There are old cedar characters too. The wine finishes dry, and is punctuated by some bitterness which in this case, mostly, adds to a complex impression. The alcohol is 14.0. Overall, this is good drinking. Review Rating: Good (★★★, 87 points). Website: Paul Kubler. Tasted: May 2024.
