Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo 2017

Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo 2017

This is a very good Barolo from Gianfranco Alessandria.  I make this observation having tasted a number of bottles of their 2017 vintage.  In the glass, the wine has very attractive aromas of fresh roses that recall the fragrance of pungent, old style garden roses rather cut roses varieties with little or modest fragrance.  Potpourri and dried herbs complete a Barberesco like aromatic impression.  On the palate, high acid, firm tannins and long length combine for complexity and balance.  Approachable now, this is an excellent Barolo that can be aged for a further decade.  Review Rating: Very Good to Outstanding (★★★★☆, 92 points).
