Lyons Will Gamay

Lyons Will Gamay 2023

This is a complex and linear gamay from Lyons Will Estate in the Macedon Ranges, a grape variety that has fewer Australian producers than it merits.  The vineyard is situated at 510 metres of altitude.  In the glass, this is a youthful wine that is lightly pigmented and has aromas of herbs, high toned raspberry fruit and stones.  The palate is medium bodied, its acidity fresh in impression and its alcohol decidedly low at 11.5%. The wine’s flavours remind of eucalyptus and crisp red fruits with gentle length and old cedar undertones.  Overall, this is a cool climate, youthful expression of gamay from the 2023 vintage that can be approached now and will continue to develop for 2 to 3 years.  Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 90 points). Website: Lyons Will Estate. Source: Sample. Tasted: 2024.
