Craggy Range Pinot Noir 2019

New Zealand continues to produce compelling Burgundian style expressions of pinot noir.  NZ seems to effortlessly match Australia’s top pinot noir contributions, advantaged by its additional latitude. Martinborough, on the north island, sits at 41.2c south, whereas Australia’s top pinot noir regions around Melbourne are in the 37-38c range. This pinot noir from Craggy Range in Martinborough has a fragrant nose of rose petals, florals and red fruits.  The palate is medium bodied, crisp and finished well.  Its aroma promised a little more than the palate delivered.  It resembles a Côte de Beaune style and represents excellent value.  Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 90 points). Website: Craggy Range. Tasted: May 2023.
