From the warm 2018 vintage, this premier cru from Domaine Bruno Clair and Savigny-Les-Beaune La Dominode is surprisingly approachable now. It has a classy and immediately attractive aroma of polished fruit and blackcurrants. Its depth of aroma is at times reminiscent of Gevrey. At other times, its aroma is almost Oregon like in its expressiveness and fruit purity. The palate reminds of red fruits and cherries and has silky tannins, together with notes of cedar. This is a delicious wine that can be drunk now, as I did. However, it will benefit from a further 2 to 5 years in the cellar, and should have a best drinking window of a further 6 to 8 years and possibly longer. Rating: Very Good (★★★★). Reviewed: May 2022.
