Château Latour 1964 Wine Review

This wine review is of Château Latour’s 1964 vintage. It is very special to taste wines of this calibre. Cellared since its purchase in the day, 57 years have passed since its vintage and the wine is still vibrant and joyous. Fully mature, the wine opens to aromas of leather, earth and old cedar. Amazingly there is still some primary fruit, reminding of spice and gentle blackcurrants. The palate is medium bodied and the oak and acidity are seamless. The wine has an ethereal balance that makes most wine seem in a different, lesser, category. The finish on the palate is very long and graceful. This is why Château Latour is one of the great wines of the world. Rating: Outstanding. Website: Producer; Vivino; Wine Searcher. Reviewed: June 2021.
