This wine review of the Le Petit Gascoûn, a blend of colombard and ugni blanc from south western France. The appellation is the IGP Côtes de Gascogne. Colombard and ugni blanc are modest grape varieties and the guiding ethos here will be producing a wine that is fresh, crisp and suitable for immediate drinking. This is delivered. The wine opens to attractive aromas of apple and lemon. The palate is dry, unoaked, has low alcohol (11.5) and finishes with high, tart acidity. The wine is in balance with its high acidity freshening the citrus characters. It is suitable for drinking now and will not improve with ageing. Rating: Acceptable.
