I spotted this well priced Italian merlot on a restaurant list. Friuli is in north eastern Italy bordering Austria to the north and Slovenia to the east. I didn’t write too much down as the wine disappeared quickly. Cool climate, but not unripe. Plums, plum skins and a wonderful textured palate. Certainly more interesting than many Australian interpretations of this at times maligned grape (see my earlier musings here). (Region: Friuli, North Eastern Italy, Rating: Good, Would I buy it based on this tasting? Yes, Drink: now, Tasted: May, 2017)
