Paringa Estate Mornington Peninsula Riesling 2004

The Mornington Peninsula is firmly wedded now to pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot gris.  But there’s still a smattering of other varieties planted for the curious.  Here for example is a riesling from Paringa Estate on the Peninsula (better known for pinot noir and perhaps shiraz), bottled under screw cap and now with 13 years of age on it.  How did it go?  I thought it was good, but even at 13 years old, it is still quite youthful.  It has aromas of lemon and hints of toast.  The palate reminds of lemon butter, has firm (but not overly so) acidity and is still relatively undeveloped.  Give this another five years in the cellar.  (Alc: 12.9%, Region: Mornington Peninsula, Rating: Good, Would I buy it based on this tasting?
