Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

2010 was a good vintage in Coonawarra, with an early harvest following above average summer temperatures.  Katnook’s Odyssey cab sav is a benchmark from the region, and so it’s always interesting to look in on.  The 2010’s aromatics are typical Coonawarra with mint, eucalyptus and spearmint characters dominant and blackcurrant lurking at the back.  Cloves, tomato bush and fly spray (I mean this as a factual observation rather than a pejorative) from the oak maturation complete the picture.  The palate has chunky tannins and mid range length.  Needs time.  (Alc: 14.5%, Region: Coonawarra, Rating: Good to Very Good, Drink: now to 2026)
