Holly’s Garden Whitlands Pinot Noir 2013

Holly’s Garden is not a label I am familiar with, and their website is down.  It came recommended, but I wasn’t taken by it.  Label clues are that this wine is unfined, unfiltered and “accidentally vegan”.  The grapes are grown on the “Whitlands high plains” at 750 metres of altitude.   In the glass, the wine is a little cloudy.  Its aromatics are initially rather attractive, with a rose like perfume and plummy character.  With air, heavy handed green characters of stems, eucalyptus, green peppercorn and fresh cut rosemary dominate.  The palate is a little flat, the acidity elevated and some bitterness there too.
