d’Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2012

d’Arenberg’s Dead Arm shiraz is eagerly awaited in these parts.  The 2012 vintage has rich aromatics of baked cooking spices and spiced plums.  Reflecting the strong 2012 vintage for shiraz in McLaren Vale (Langtons give it a 10/10, whereas the 2011 received 5/10 – you can see the chart here), its palate has a silky texture, flavours of spice and plums, good length, fine grained tannins and a lovely balance.  This a very good Dead Arm release that can be drunk now, or cellared for a decade or more.
