Stefano Lubiana Grande Vintage 2007

Stefano Lubiana’s 2007 Grande Vintage sparkling wine has seen some serious care.  7 years on lees and a further 10 months on cork, it is a blend of 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir.  A fine bead presents in the glass, the colour golden.  Its aromatics remind of brioche, bread and lemon and its palate has a fine mousse, nuanced by a touch of honey and a long finish.  The base wine I suspect is rather delicious.  This feels every bit the special occasion sparkling wine, and at $55 over-delivers.
