Château Pichon Baron Longueville

Château Baron Pichon Longueville 2005

The Baron is a favourite wine and 2005 is among the great Bordeaux vintages.  What could possibly go wrong?  Nothing at all it turns out.  Its aromatics are deep and engaging, reminding principally of blackcurrants.  It momentarily startles such is its impression.  The palate has long length and its flavours are classic Pauillac – blackcurrant and cigar box, its components in perfect balance.  At a decade old, this wine is but a baby and I expect it will age for decades.  Overall, a stunning wine that is worth every cent of its not insubstantial price. Rating: Outstanding. Website: http://www.pichonbaron.com/en/. Tasted: August 2015.
