I had a sip of Capel Vale’s cabernet sauvignon 2012 and thought it quite good. Returning to it the next day, its aromatics seemed more jaunty and its approach less convincing, although still pleasant and a typical example of a Margaret River cab. In the glass, it is a full intensity purple in colour and its aromatics remind of red meat, eucalyptus, mint and cardamom. The palate has tannins that are both firm and grippy. Overall, this is a balanced and blackcurrant driven expression of cabernet sauvignon and I would try it again.
