Coteaux du Languedoc in the south of France is a varied and large appellation, and Pic Saint Loup is one of the more successful crus in it. I see more wine from this region on retail shelves in France, than Australia where blends of syrah, mourvèdre and grenache such as this wine stray firmly onto home turf. So, sighting a bottle in Australia, chances are someone thought this is a pretty good wine. In the glass, the aromatics remind of currants, with some sweet red fruit impressions from the grenache. The palate is balanced with medium length and some textural notes of currant and cherry. Overall, my view is that this wine is more pleasant than brilliant, but is nonetheless a balanced and enjoyable wine.
