I don’t taste a lot of attractive wines below the $15 mark. And regrettably the ones I do taste sometimes can be unbalanced, dull or feel “manufactured”. This tempranillo from the Valencia DO, which is situated inland from the Mediterannean coast from Spain’s third largest city Valencia, eschews such categorisation and is in fact quite interesting. Neither Rioja nor Ribera del Deuro, it is a fresh fruited and vibrant wine, with plums featuring on the nose and palate, nuanced by an attractive fleshy texture and medium length. Balanced in impression, this wine overachieves in quality for its price point.
