Chateau de Fieuzal 2009

Source: Larousse Encyclopedia of Wine (Hamlyn, 2004).

The 2009 vintage of Chateau de Fieuzal from Pessac-Léognan is a stunning wine. Its power and structure is such that I would expect it to age for many, many years to come.  A saturated purple in colour, it has aromatics of blackcurrant and cedar, with some notes of tobacco at the edges.  The palate reveals ripe blackcurrant flavours complemented by the cedar and tobacco characters, long length and an enviable depth of flavour.  This is Pessac-Léognan at its best.

Rating: Outstanding, Abv: 13.5%, Price: $90s, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: http://www.fieuzal.com, Tasted: 2014
