Château du Tertre de Cascard 2010

Château du Tertre de Cascard is a blend of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet sauvignon from the right bank of Bordeaux.  It is quite a complex offering for an AOP Bordeaux and certainly overachieves.  It has aromatics of blackcurrant, dried currant, redcurrant, wood spice and cedar with time in the glass.  The palate has some depth, grippy tannins and good length on the finish, with the aromatics carrying through to flavour the palate.  It grows a substantial structure and depth in the glass with air, and accordingly, I would recommend decanting this wine for at least 45 minutes before approaching.  This is a savoury, weighty and balanced expression of a Bordeaux merlot blend that is really quite enjoyable.
