Thorin Domaine du Prieuré Moulin à Vent 2011

The Moulin-à-Vent region.  Source: Google Maps

Moulin-à-Vent is one of the better regarded Beaujolais crus, and has the potential to produce concentrated gamay wines that last well.  This wine is not one of those – it’s $9.90 – but it’s a pretty sound wine nonetheless.  It has aromatics of dark cherry, pepper, fresh oregano and some tucked away banana skins.  The palate is balanced and very drinkable.

Rating: Acceptable, Abv: 13%, Price: $9.90, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: n/a, Tasted: 2014
