Bilgavia Estates’ 2013 semillon is a pale intensity lemon-green in the glass, and opens to youthful aromatics of pear, lemon, hay and talc. It’s dry on the palate, with high acid, a lightish body and flavours principally of lemon, pear, hay and some suggestions of yellow nectarine. There’s a light petillance there too (not petulance as the spell checker rather insists on having it) and a short to medium length finish. This is a balanced Hunter Valley semillon, with clean fruit flavours that is ready to drink now, but will keep. Acceptable to Good
