Chateau La Rame Sainte-Croix-du-Mont 2011

This is a good value dessert wine from Chateau La Rame in Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, down the road from Sauternes.  Well, actually it’s about 16km drive according to Google Maps, but you get the picture.  The wine has aromatics of honey, hints of lemon and some botrytis is there too.  The palate is similar, with honey and low level botrytis adding some interest.  This is not the most complex wine in the world and its finish is slightly sweeter than a typical Sauternes due to a lower impression of acidity, but that said, it has enough fruit concentration and interest to be a good buy at the price.  Acceptable to Good
