Chateau Lanessan 1996

I saw this one at auction, and thought it worth a try.  Cloudy in the glass, it is a medium intensity garnet in colour.  The aromatics are classic left bank Bordeaux – pencil lead, blackcurrant and a refined air.  The palate is mature with resolved tannins, subtle cedar notes and a medium length finish.   There’s general balance and class here in the blackcurrant and cedar nuances.  This wine is certainly ready to drink now and probably just a little past its best.  The last part of the bottle was full of sediment and therefore careful decanting is required.  Good
