Chateau de Mauvin Sauternes 2006

There are some good Sauternes out there that aren’t from the well known names.   Even though this wine will be difficult to find in Australia, I thought it worth writing up, as it presents very well.  This Sauternes is all about homey and melon aromatics.  The palate shows medium length, evident botrytis character, with marmalade and honey to the fore, and an overall pleasing sense of balance between acid and fruit – neither cloying nor hard.  It’s a very good Sauternes.  Good to Very Good.  Abv: 13.5%. Tasted: March 2013
