It felt rather festive when this Champagne and its non-vintage sibling arrived at the door. Duperrey is a label that I haven’t tried before – something that is always of interest for me when it comes to Champagne. Lemon in colour, the bubbles of the Champagne in the glass are medium rather than small in size, but with quite reasonable persistence. Aromatically, this is an exercise in citrus, lemon, minerals and the barest hint of brioche – it being more Pol Roger than Bollinger in style. On the palate, citrus, medium length and a creamy mousse assert this is to be a classic, elegant citric style of Champagne. A vintage wine competing at a non-vintage price point, which is probably pretty clever. Good
