I tasted this wine by the glass at the ever good Farmers Arms Hotel in Daylesford which continues to serve hearty food that is more “good bistro” than posh, which happens to suit me. The wine is a saturated purple in colour and viscous tears coat the glass. Rather than monolothic, however, its aromatics remind of a southern Rhone wine, with a complex aroma of pepper, plums, herbs, tarragon (a lot of tarragon actually), anise, prunes and raisins. The palate displayed similar flavours, set to medium (maybe a bit more) length and pepper and licorice characters most evident. A thoroughly enjoyable Heathcote shiraz. I had a second glass. Very Good
