Arras shows the way in terms of what can be done with Australian sparkling wine at a competitive (at least compared with Champagne) price point.
The “Brut Elite” from Arras is a lovely non-vintage sparkling wine, with a good persistence of fine bubbles. Attractive vegemite and yeast aromatics intermingle with clean citrus and notes of hay, providing a level of integration and yeasty interest not usually seen in Australian sparkling wines. A medium mousse set to high acidity and clean lemon citrus flavours round out the palate. There is more interest in this wine than in many lower level Champagnes. 87-88 points (very good)
