This is a sound release from Wynns Coonawarra Estate, part of the Treasury Wine Estates’ stable. The 2006 vintage of Wynns’ “black label” cabernet sauvignon is an agreeable wine. A deep ruby in colour, the wine opens to a light-medium intensity fragrance of mixed herbs and chocolate, and is intermingled with nuances of currants. On the palate, medium tannins support flavours of iodine and earth, and a woody expression of blackcurrants. There’s good safe claret drinking to be had here. I'll certainly give it a go at 10 years and see how it shows, and mind you this wine was far from bad!
I'm one of those big Wynns fan. To me the appeal, and indeed the exceptional nature of Wynns black label comes with age. Most vintages it only shows its best after 10 years
