Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

The Odyssey is Katnook’s flagship cabernet sauvignon, and the 2004 reviewed below is a very good wine.  Katnook is one of my favourite producers from Coonawarra at this level.  On opening, the wine initially was a little off-putting, with a slightly unusual aroma of coconuts, butter and a cola like note.  The wine quickly settled down however to reveal a more classic aroma of light herbs, chocolate and oak.  The palate had nice length and black fruits were evident.  An interesting and serious wine.  Drink or keep. 90 points.
