Greenock Creek Seven Acre Shiraz Review

Greenock Creek Seven Acre Shiraz 2014 Review

Greenock Creek in the Barossa Valley in Australia’s reputation is built on very expressive and ripe primary fruit driven shiraz, running sometimes into high alcohol levels.  This wine is not however an example of that style and a welcome reminder that wine tasting is much more interesting than reasoning derived from labels. This shiraz at 12 years’ of age is closer in style to a Hermitage from the northern Rhône Valley, and a good one at that.  From the 2014 vintage, the wine has evolved to reveal attractive aromas of game, roast meats and plums.  The palate is in a delightful spot.  It has long length, and the fruit is full mature, with nuances of game, plum and dried fruits, with an enveloping fruit weight and length.  Drink this delicious wine over the next 2-4 years.  Review Rating: Very Good to Outstanding (★★★★☆, 93 points).
