Ten Minutes by Tractor McCutcheon Pinot Noir 2015

This is among the best pinot noirs I’ve tasted from the Mornington Peninsula to date.  The wine isn’t produced in large quantities – it’s from a single vineyard on the Peninsula (the McCutcheon) that is planted to 3.28 hectares of pinot noir – but it is really is worth seeking out in this vintage (2015).  Fresh from a blind tasting of older Burgundies (tasting notes not yet published), frankly it would have fitted comfortably among the Côte de Nuits premier crus.  The 2015 vintage of the McCutcheon has aromatics of iron, blood, cherries and that beguiling pinot noir character.  The palate is mid weight and has a stoney core that provides a good foil to its fruit.  Delicious and well balanced pinot noir.  (Region: Mornington Peninsula, Rating: Very Good, Would I buy it based on this tasting? Yes, Drink: now to 2024, Tasted: Mar, 2017, Source: Sample)
