The 2008 vintage of Château Baron Pichon Longueville has aromatics of clove, blackcurrant, mint and cedar and builds confidence and knits together with air and time in the glass. The palate has fine grained tannins that are quite present at this stage, but is surrounded by deep and densely structured blackcurrant fruit, and the finish has the Baron’s trademark long length. I think this wine would benefit from another 2 or 3 years in bottle before approaching and is certainly an outstanding wine. Rating: Outstanding. Website: http://www.pichonlongueville.com.
