The 2008 vintage of Château Baron Pichon Longueville has aromatics of clove, blackcurrant, mint and cedar and builds confidence and knits together with air and time in the glass. The palate has fine grained tannins that are quite present at this stage, but is surrounded by deep and densely structured blackcurrant fruit, and the finish has the Baron’s trademark long length. I think this wine would benefit from another 2 or 3 years in bottle before approaching and is certainly an outstanding wine. Rating: Outstanding. Website: http://www.pichonlongueville.com. Craig – I certainly agree there's some good wine to be had among the '08s & the prices happily aren't out of the stratosphere either.CheersSean
The Pichon Longueville Baron is consistently outstanding. The 2008 wines of Bordeaux in general seem to be doing well and may have been overlooked in favour of people buying 2009 and 2010. In comparison they represent some better value I think without reaching the same scores. 2008's also will probbaly be more approachable earlier. Thanks for publishing the review Sean.
