Morgon is one of the Beaujolais region’s stronger appellations, and Daniel Bouland is one of Morgan’s better producers. This is a good start. Its colour points to its quality – quite a medium intensity ruby, that appears deep for both the grape variety (gamay) and the region. Aromatically, this is quite a perfumed wine that is still revelling in its youth – there are notes of twig, stem, fresh thyme, sap and fresh raspberry. The palate has medium length and body, with bright raspberry, chalk and cherry skin characters coming through, and some firm acidity and tannins. Overall, this is a good quality wine due to its fruit and aromatic and palate complexity, that probably needs more time to show its best. Good
