This rosé is on the shelves at under $10, yet it is in fact perfectly pleasant. If $10 seems cheap, and since I haven’t complained about Australian wine taxes and prices for at least 20 minutes, it’s available in France for a bit over 3 euros a bottle. This is a typical simple example of a Côtes du Rhone rosé, made from syrah, grenache and cinsault.
Salmon pink in colour, the wine is bright with a pale intensity of expression. The nose has a medium intensity expression of strawberries and spices and is quite youthful. The palate is dry with medium acidity, ever so slightly noticeable alcoholic kick and is a light intensity expression of strawberries and chalk, with short length. This rosé is perfectly pleasant – a simple and balanced wine suitable for everyday uncritical drinking. 80 points (good)
