I drank this Xanadu shiraz over several days, and it surprised by its absolute suitability to drink now.
Aged for 12 months in French oak (40% new), it yields a bright purple colour. Its aroma is well formed, with notes of plums, blueberries, quite subtle and nuanced oak, together with a dash of green peppercorn, pepper and blackcurrant jam. The palate retains a subtlety of expression, with black cherries and cloves joining the aromatics previously noted. As is often the case with Margaret River shiraz, this is a plush and quite well rounded wine that is fruit driven and forward, yet retains some elegance, and is mostly notable for being very pleasant to drink, rather than proposing to scale grand heights. I think it is certainly ready to drink right now, it presenting quite similarly over the few days I tasted it. Very Good
