This wine is from top producer By Farr in Geelong in Australia and is from the 2024 vintage.  This producer is capable of outstanding, Burgundian expressions of pinot noir.  This wine however is a very particular style of pinot noir, and I encounter it most commonly among the top producers of the Geelong region and Bannockburn in particular. In the glass, there are aromas of leaf and stem and the wine has a dusty, whole bunch character to it.  The fruit in this vintage is 60 to 70% de-stemmed, but perhaps more is desirable as the stem influence is obvious, though it is a character to which I appear sensitive.  The palate is medium bodied with nice fruit weight and expressions of cherry, supplemented by evident whole bunch and leafy characters. A better integration of these green characters would provide fewer distractions in what is otherwise a good wine.  Overall, the wine is a good one and will have its adherents.   Review Rating: Good (★★★, 87 points). Website: Wine by Farr. Tasted: September 2026.
