This is a very good chenin blanc from Badenhorst in South Africa. Chenin blanc is South Africa’s pinnacle white grape variety. The new release 2024 vintage tasted here has aromas that are restrained and suitably woolly. The palate is medium bodied and savoury. It has a crisp line of acidity on the finish. The wine is not dissimilar to a Loire Valley Vouvray style. The warmer climate of South Africa gives a little extra fruit richness in the mid palate to distinguish it. It also is less minerally and finishes dry. Drink now and over the next 6 to 8 years. Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 88 points). Website: Badenhorst Family Wines.
