This is a high quality Châteauneuf du Pape from négociant house Tardieu-Laurent. It avoids the heaviness and very high alcohol that can be found in some Châteauneuf du Pape reds. In the glass, this blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre is a pale red ruby in colour and has complex aromas of spice and lavender. Lavender is its key expression. Its palate is full bodied, red fruited and has medium tannins and good length on the finish. The alcohol is 14.5, which is high, but not particularly so in the context of the region.
