Les Allées de Cantemerle 2005

Les Allées de Cantemerle is the second wine of Chateau Cantemerle situated in the Haut Médoc region of Bordeaux.  The first wine, Chateau Cantemerle itself, tends to be one of the more affordable of the left bank Bordeaux cru classés.

The 2005 vintage of this wine is very good.  It is not a complicated wine, but it is nonetheless highly enjoyable.  I won’t trouble it with a long description.  Expect an aroma and flavours of blackcurrant and tobacco leaf, supported by pleasant acidity and structure.  Most importantly, it is lovely (and easy) to drink, and disappeared quickly.  Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 87 points). Website: Château Cantemerle. Tasted: March 2012.
