Pierre-Yves Colin Morey Saint-Aubin Le Banc 2010

Saint-Aubin is probably not the best known of the Burgundian appellations. ¬†It is in the C√īte de Beaune and neighbours Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet. ¬†I was very pleased with this particular wine from Pierre-Yves Colin Morey and the 2010 vintage. ¬†It has refined and racy acidity and overtones of lemon and cashew. ¬†In itsContinue reading “Pierre-Yves Colin Morey Saint-Aubin Le Banc 2010”

Sylvie Esmonin Clos Saint-Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 2012

This 2012 wine from Sylvie Esmonin presented somewhat atypically for a Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques, an appellation that I have taken a liking to, unfortunately. Its expression is very youthful and ripe, with overt cedar and sulphur characters. On the palate, it has intense fruit and good length. Overall, I think this wine will benefit fromContinue reading “Sylvie Esmonin Clos Saint-Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 2012”

Domaine G. Roumier Clos de la Bussière Morey-Saint-Denis 2007

This is a refined Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de la Bussi√®re from Domaine Roumier and the 2007 vintage. Its aromas remind of redcurrant, iron filings, blackcurrant and are pure in expression. The palate has great length and, in terms of structure, expresses gentle acidity, a graceful balance and modest fruit intensity befitting the lighter 2007 vintage, Overall,Continue reading “Domaine G. Domaine Thomas-Moillard Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru 1993

If you are looking for more information on¬†every¬†Burgundy appellation, the Bourgogne Wines website is excellent. ¬†The link is¬†here. ¬†Clos du Roi is one of the more commonly declared lieux-dits of Corton Grand Cru in the C√īte de Beaune. ¬†And here’s an example with 25 years of age on it. ¬†From Domaine Thomas-Moillard, the wine hasContinue reading “Domaine Thomas-Moillard Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru 1993”

Pascal Marchand-Tawse Bourgogne Rouge 2015

This is a very moreish Bourgogne from Pascal Marchand. From the highly regarded 2015 vintage, it is a good example of a Bourgogne rouge, if expensive. In the glass, it is faintly meaty, with raspberry notes. The palate is fleshy, medium bodied and with enough flavour and acidity to both resolutely signal Burgundy and interest.Continue reading “Pascal Marchand-Tawse Bourgogne Rouge 2015”

Domaine du Pélican Arbois Savignan Ouillé 2018 Wine Review

From the Marquis d’Angerville (of Burgundy fame), Domaine du P√©lican’s savignan ouill√© is a very good wine from the 2018 vintage. Some interpretation is required for those less familiar with Jura wine labels. Savignan is also known as traminer (related, but different to gewurtztraminer) and is the speciality white of the Jura region of France.Continue reading “Domaine du P√©lican Arbois Savignan Ouill√© 2018 Wine Review”
