Terre à Terre Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

This Terre √† Terre wine is from the Cray√®res vineyard in Wrattonbully, north of Coonawarra. It has aromas of cedar, earth and red fruits and that Coonawarra “ferrous” character. The palate has long length and terrific balance. An impressive release, this wine can be approached now but should improve with 5 to 8 years inContinue reading “Terre √† Terre Cabernet Sauvignon 2016”

Reschke Pierre de Ronsard Rosé 2017

This is a well made rosé from Reschke in Coonawarra.  Made from merlot, it is an orange-red colour in the glass and opens to aromatics of red apples. The palate is dry, full bodied, lightly crisp and has an apple and stone fruity finish. Rating: Good. Abv: 13.2%. Price: $25. Source: Sample.

The wine is from Terre √† Terre in Wrattonbully, near Coonawarra and the border between South Australia and Victoria. The soil here is terra rossa limestone and the vineyard is known as the Cray√®res. This is a regionContinue reading “Terre √† Terre Cabernet Franc 2016”

Rymill Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon new releases: 2012 and 2014

The Coonawarra Vignerons website (here) is a wealth of information about local vintage conditions, albeit in a glass half full kind of a way where one is left guessing as to their actual views of the vintages. ¬†2014 for example is described as “classic”, while 2012 had “very pleasing quality fruit” and is “a vintageContinue reading “Rymill Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon new releases: 2012 and 2014”

Reschke Fumé Sauvignon Blanc 2015

There aren’t many producing a fum√© blanc style sauvignon blanc in Australia and I think this wine’s a bit of a success. From early picked sauvignon blanc in Coonawarra, it has seen some time on French oak. It is neither unduly green, nor unduly woody, achieving a good balance in the glass. The aromatics remindContinue reading “Reschke Fum√© Sauvignon Blanc 2015”
