There are few bargains in Barolo, but this is a good value expression of the region. Ricossa’s 2019 Barolo has aromas of tea and red fruits. The palate is medium bodied and its acidity high but not bracingly so. Damp tea leaf and cherry characters are predominant. This is an adaptable and approachable style of Barolo suitable for earlier drinking. Price adjusted, it is a wine to be positive about. It’s better than a typical Langhe nebbiolo and it is upgradeable with a lamb ragout. Drink it over the next 5 to 8 years. Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 88 points). Website: Ricossa.
