Pujanza Hado 2015 Wine Review

I taste a lot of wines these days that I don’t manage to write up. I am trying to correct this and get them out. This is very good Rioja from Bodegas Pujanza and the 2015 vintage. It will suit new world wine drinkers wanting fruit but coupled with a more old world tannic grip. In the glass, it has attractive and savoury aromas of red fruit, leather and cedar. The palate is dry, oaked and medium bodied with very grippy tannins and medium length (10 seconds). The alcohol is 14.5. The tannins are this wine’s most attractive feature – grippy, savoury and enjoyable. While drinking well now and still youthful in bearing, the tannic grip and intense fruit support this Rioja wine ageing and perhaps improving over a further decade. This is a very good modern Rioja. Rating: Good to Very Good. Website: Producer. Reviewed: September 2021.
