This wine review is of the Metala shiraz cabernet sauvignon blend from Langhorne Creek in South Australia and the 2010 vintage. As a commercial wine suited to immediate drinking, it was interesting to taste at 11 years of age. Bottled under screw cap and cellared since purchase, it has still mostly primary and secondary characters. Its aromas are dark fruited with a seam of licorice. The palate is dry, full bodied, has baked fruit characters and the oak is well integrated. The alcohol is high, the acidity is medium-high (higher than expected) and the tannins are low and almost unnoticeable. Overall, this is a sound wine that has not really developed at this point. On this tasting, it may have another decade in it which is remarkable. Rating: Good. Website: Treasury Wine Estates; Wine Searcher. Reviewed: February 2021.
