This wine from Kay Brothers in McLaren Vale is not shy, but has rewarded a decade in the cellar since purchase. It is bottled under screwcap, which some fear equates to a sentence of perpetual youth. Regardless of the theory (a topic to return to), observation here is that the wine has developed very well in the cellar.
The aromatics are increasingly tertiary in their expression of dark cherry, cedar, prune and leather. The palate is resolutely full bodied, has a remarkably long finish and its generous alcohol presents in balance. Very good.
