Punt Road Airlie Bank Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Tim Shand and the team continue to kick goals at Punt Road.  The 2015 release of Punt Road’s Airlie Bank Vineyard pinot is a fresh style of pinot noir.  It sees 15% stems, no fining, no filtration, low cropping (8 tonnes per hectare), is mostly MV6 clone with some early picked 777 and 115 in the mix and little oak influence.  In the glass, the wine has aromatics of herbs, stems, cherry and smoke (in a good way).  The palate is balanced with fresh acidity and savoury cherry and gravelly notes.  There’s a lot of interest here for the price.
