Rockford Basket Press Shiraz 2012

This may be the best Rockford Basket Press that I have tasted in its youth.  The 2012 Basket Press is quite pure and delicious in expression, with plum, spice and an appealing apricot character predominant.  The palate is full bodied and the length long.  I expect this will cellar and improve for decades.

Hi Colin – I suspect if you ask them there would be no intention of any changes. I suspect it's a combination of 2012 being a very good vintage and possibly subtle tweaks as part of the handing over of management from Rob O'Callaghan to their winemaker since 2006 Ben Radford. This wine certainly is showing well as a baby!

Hello Sean,I have often found rbp a little gruff and unwelcoming when young ,however your review tends to suggest a definite change in style.I would appreciate your thoughts.ThanksColin r
