Picardy Pinot Noir 2011

I rate Picardy in Pemberton in Western Australia as among Australia’s pre-eminent pinot noir producers.  While Burgundy references are legion in describing new world pinot noir, this wine is closer in style than many.  More Volnay than Pommard, it has aromatics of rose petals, potpourri and cherry.  The palate is complete, with medium length, and voluptuous flavours reminding of roses, cherry and a bit of bacon.  There is a cedar influence, but it is comfortably restrained.  This is a very good pinot noir release from Picardy that is easy to recommend.  Good to Very Good
